I'm attending my first "photography workshop" tomorrow in order to seek some clarity in the "what the hell am I doing" department regarding taking photos. Not sure what to expect or if it will be worth it.
Today I received a Zeikos ZE-NBG90 battery grip for my Nikon D90 in the mail from Overstock.com.
I'd heard mostly positive things about this grip on various forums. And I have to say from what I've experienced so far, it was a good investment ($59).

I did something the other day that I don't recommend anyone do: I purchased a display-model camera from Wal-Mart. This has nothing to do with Wal-mart, but everything to do with buying an electronic gadget with moving parts that's been pawed over for months by un-caring shopper while collecting dust. However, I defend my choice sheepishly with the "but I got a really good deal defense". The camera is a Canon SD780 IS. It was already marked down to "Wal-Mart prices", then slashed again as a clearance item, then had another 10% taken off for being a display model. I couldn't resist. And it works perfectly (so far). The 720p video quality is so much better than on the D90 without the set-up required on the D90 to get the video to be usable (AE-L, manual focus, etc.). Of course it can't do the shallow Depth of Field that the D90 can do. It can share batteries with my wife's SD1100 IS fits in a tiny pouch inside my Kata 3N1-10 camera bag. I still feel a little dirty handling it until I'm sure the Wal-Mart residue wears off, but it's worth it.
